Paul Gothenburg 6/12/04

(6/21/04) Dear Steve,

I will not go into too much details since you have had lots of excellent and comprehensive reviews of Paul s Summer Tour already. However, I had the immense pleasure of seeing Macca on Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg the 12 June. I have seen Paul previously in 1972, 1989, 1993 and also last year in Globen, Stockholm but this was by far his best performance, in my opinion. I must confess, that last year I was convinced that age had finally caught up with Paul, since his vocals were really strained and cracked on many occasions during the show. It was almost painful to hear him struggle with songs like Band On The Run, Blackbird and We Can Work It Out. However, on this year's show his vocals were amazingly faultless, crystal clear and unaffected by age. In fact I have never heard him sing so well live ever before. I also enjoyed the show much more this year since it had a lot more rock & roll feel to it and even more classic songs compared to last year. To me it looked as if he enjoyed himself more this year and also gave a more relaxed impression. The ultimate hightlight of the show was to hear an absolutely incredible live version of Helter Skelter.

I doubt if there is anyone else today who can deliver such pure, hard joyful piece of rock & roll with truly one of the best vocals in history of rock.

Best Wishes, Jörgen Isgaard Gothenburg, Sweden
