A few points:

- Ringo was in top form - looking fit and happy. His drumming was great.
- Sheila is such an amazing drummer / percussionist; she proved that again at this show. No wonder Ringo keeps asking her back.
- Edgar is an amazing multi-instrumentalist. He played keyboards, sax and percussion. Frankenstein is such a great song.
- Richard is a better guitarist than I thought he would be.
- Billy is an excellent lead guitarist.
- Hamish can really play bass.
- Rod's really good on the keys too.
- When Ringo introduced Billy, Billy said, "Thanks for that nice introduction, Paul".
- Rod had a false start to She's Not There. A setting on his keyboard needed to be reset.
- Ringo was off stage when they did Frankenstein.
- Sheila did a percussion encore after The Glamorous Life.

It was *so great* to hear What Goes On. And I'm glad that NWY, MIYM and CL are in the set list too.

  • From Yvan Tessier:

Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band

    Casino Rama, Rama, Ontario

    June 14 2006

    Opening Night of the Tour

    • Ringo Starr – Drums, Vocals
    • Rod Argent – Keyboards, Vocals
    • Richard Marx – Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Keyboards ( on one song )
    • Sheila E. – Drums, Percussion, Vocals
    • Billy Squier – Lead Guitar, Vocals
    • Edgar Winter – Keyboards, Sax, Percussion, Vocals
    • Hamish Stuart – Bass Guitar throughout the show, Vocals.

I arrived at Casino Rama with my friend Wayne at approximately three thirty in the afternoon. This gave us a chanced to check in the hotel, maybe play the slots, have a bite to eat and generally mull around.

The doors of the Entertainment section of the Casino did not open until seven thirty in the evening. Both Hamish Stuart and Billy Squier were seen walking around and down the hallway from the entertainment section to the hotel elevator.

I entered the Entertainment/ Theatre portion of the Casino at about twenty to eight ( the show was slated to start at eight ). I was sitting in Section F4 ( center ) , row 4 which gave me and my friend a perfect view of the stage and the performers. It took a while for most people to enter the Theatre and there were announcements via the Casino intercom stated that the show would be starting and encouraging the patrons to take their seats.

A young lady sitting to my left had a sign that read “Choose Ringo”.

The actual show started slightly late at ten after eight in the evening. The lights were dimmed and the All-Starrs took their place behind their perspective instruments. There were shouts in the crowd welcoming various members: “Hey Rod”, “We love you, Richard”, “Hey Edgar”. That type of thing.

Suddenly the lights on stage were turned on and the first song was:

    • BILLY SHEARS INTRO – This was just the beginning of “With a Little Help From My Friends” where Sgt. Pepper turns in to the three chord introduction to Billy Shears. This is where Ringo was making his way to stage.
    • IT DON”T COME EASY - Ringo.
    • WHAT GOES ON – This was introduced by Ringo: “This is the first time I’ve performed this song on stage “.
    • HONEY DON’T – Ringo.
    • EVERYBODY WANTS YOU – Billy Squier
    • FREE RIDE – Edgar Winter.
    • LOVE BIZARRE – Sheila E.
    • BOYS – Ringo. Way too short.
    • IT DON’T MEAN NOTHING – Richard Marx.
    • SHE’S NOT THERE – Rod Argent. Supposedly, it was Mr. Argent’s birthday on this night. The song started as a break down due to the fact that some of the ALL-STARRS decided to tinker with one of the keyboards at the beginning of the night and program it to be on “auto transpose”. This made Rod Argent stop the song after one verse, and then start again. The joke was explained to the crowd by Richard Marx.
    • NEVER WITHOUT YOU – Ringo. Dedicated to George by Ringo although Mr. Harrison’s name was not mentioned. Ringo referred to George as “One of my great friends” Tears and sadness abounded. The woman beside me and others had very large watery eyes during this particular song. Touching. No mention of Mr. Billy Preston or John though.
    • YELLOW SUBMARINE – Ringo.
    • DYING TO LIVE – Edgar Winter. Solo. Just Edgar and an electronic keyboard that was brought on stage. Electrifying. An incredible performance.
    • RIGHT HERE WAITING – Richard Marx. Solo. Richard Quote: “ Following Edgar Winter is like following a live birth”. Funny Guy. This is the only song where Richard Marx played keys. Only him w/ keyboard.
    • FRANKENSTIEN – Edgar Winter. The highlight. Unbelievable. Standing ovation for this performance. The only standing ovation of the night. The All-Starrs were “right on” for this. Ringo did not play on this one.
    • PHOTOGRAPH- Ringo.
    • CHOOSE LOVE – Ringo. Sound great live.
    • MY HEART STILL WAITS ?? – Richard Marx. Not sure of the title for this one. Great vocals.
    • GLAMOUROUS LIFE – Sheila E. The incredible Sheila E. As past years, Ringo coaxes Sheila into an extended solo.
    • I WANNA BE YOUR MAN – Ringo.
    • ALL NIGHT LONG – Billy Squier. Very rocky live.
    • HOLD YOUR HEAD UP – Rod Argent. Extended solo on the Hammond by Rod in the middle section. Cool.
    • ACT NATURALLY – Ringo.
    • MEMPHIS IN YOUR MIND – Ringo.
    • WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS – Ringo

Ringo left the stage at the end of “With a Little Help” while doing jumping jacks as in previous tours. The All- Starrs wrapped it up and there was no encore. The lights were turned up and the background music started playing. Many people standing up and cheering for an encore to no avail.

Hamish Stuart played Bass throughout and was not featured as a solo performer at any time during the show.

The concert lasted approximately two hours and fifteen minutes. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
