8/15/01: Ringo Starr and the All-Starr Band, USF Sundome, Tampa, Fla. (8/18/01) From Richard Barr:

Here's a quick review of Ringo's show in Tampa last night. (Aug 15) First of all the set list was the same as previously reported on your web site. We arrived and looked at the merchandise which was not too terribly expensive. (Except for the Ringo Anthology CD which they were asking $50 for!!!!).

The USF Sun Dome is a terrible place to see a show, with terrible acoustics and rickety bleachers to sit on. This left much to be desired!! Depending on where you were sitting you could not hear anything but the drums and couldn't understand anything anybody was saying from the stage. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on who you are) the venue was not filled to capacity and you could move around and find better seats to see and hear from - which we did. My brother even made his way to the front of the stage for the latter part of the show - and he started in the second level!!!!!

As for the show, it was a awesome show - full of energy - Sheila E. flat out rocks on the drums, and Ringo played harder and better than ever. Having seen all the All Starr band tours but one - Ringo is definately playing at his best. (I hope to be able to walk at over 60!!!) Before the 'encore' Ringo said 'this is the section when we are supposed to run off - you scream and we run back on - we've run off the last few nights and we look silly - so just scream (which we did) and then Ringo ran in place and said 'this is us running back on' - a very funny moment.

Pat Travers and Liberty DeVitto from Billy Joel's band joined Ringo on stage for With A Little Help From My Friends - with Liberty on Ringo's drum kit. A third guest - who I didn't recognize, but heard from other concert goers as we were leaving was AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson - also was a guest on WALHFMF.

So in a nutshell - the building is a HORRIBLE place to see a show - terrible sound - but the performances were awesome!!! and a splendid time was had by all!!

A second note from Richard Barr:

It was Rick Derringer NOT Pat Travers that was a special guest on WALHFMF along with Liberty DeVitto and Brian Johnson of AC/DC. Sorry for the mix up!!
